International Mother Language Day

21^st February was declared as an International Mother Language Day in the General Conference of UNESCO in November 1999. International Mother Language Day has been observed every year all over the world since February 2000 to encourage linguistic and cultural variety and multilingualism. The date represents the day in 1952. On that day, the students were struggling for the right place of their language, Bangla. They wanted to make Bangla as one of the two state languages of the then Pakistan. But when they brought a procession, police fired into the crowd and several students like Salam, Rafique, Jabbar, Barkat and so on were killed. On this day, people wake up early in the morning. They put on a black badge to mark the day as a day of mourning for them. They walk to the Shaheed Minar barefooted with flowers and wreaths in hands. They offer flowers and wreaths on the foot of the Shaheed Minar to show love and respect to the martyred heroes. It is our great achievement that our heroic sons are getting profound respect from the people all over the world.

The Independence Day

The Independence Day is the day of national festivity. Bangladesh declared independence on that day. It is a red-letter day in the history of Bangladesh. The day is celebrated every year with great pleasure and joy. We arrange a number of functions on this day. The Government buildings are decorated beautifully. People rise early in the morning and go to the parade ground to enjoy march past and the display. The president of Bangladesh takes the salute from the march past. The mass drill follows it. The students from different schools and colleges participate in the functions. They show their colorful display to celebrate the day. It is a magnificent sight indeed. People go to the National Memorial at Savar to show respect to our martyred freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country in the war. The day goes by in festive programs and functions. Different organizations arrange different functions to celebrate this day. The dailies publish special supplements on this day. BTV and different private channels air programs based on our liberation war. The new generation did not witness the liberation war but they can learn about the birth history of Bangladesh on this day.

May Day

May 1 is internationally observed as a May Day. The day is observed to commemorate the historic struggle of working people. The day is observed in most of the countries of the world. The day has a historical background. The privileges that the workers enjoy today such as a minimum wage, safety laws and eight hours working day came out for the sacrifice of the workers in 1886. On May 3, 1886, police fired into a crowd of strikers of the McComick Harvest Machine Company, Chicago, killing at least one striker, seriously wounding five or six others and injuring an undetermined number. At the beginning of Industrial Revolution, people worked very long shifts lasting up to fourteen or even more hours a day. This is why, in the 1880s, a movement calling for an eight-hour working day began among the laborers and the workers. If the workers did not raise their voice for their rights, they would continue to be exploited. So, the day is of much importance for the working people all around the world.  

Traffic Jam

Traffic jam has become a common sight in our modern city life. It occurs because of the large number of vehicles. In our country, there are other causes too. The roads are mostly narrow and out of repair. There is often garbage and building materials kept on the roads. There are many unauthorized roadside shops. Often because of meeting and processions, roads are blocked. There is a tendency among the drivers to disobey traffic rules. The drivers also have an overtaking tendency. Slow-moving and swift-moving vehicles move together that also causes traffic jam. Traffic jam is acute during the time people go to or return from their work or at the time of public examinations. Traffic jam gives a nation nothing good. It wastes our time. People cannot go to their respective place in time because of it. Patients on the way to hospitals suffer acutely and it often causes death. The authority should take proper steps to solve this problem. Laws must be enforced. People should use over-bridges. The roads should be specious enough for the smooth movement of the vehicles. Some roads should be made one-way. If proper steps are not taken soon, city life will become intolerable in near future.

Tree Plantation

Trees are the most important gifts of nature. They help us in maintaining the ecological balance that is essential for the protection of life on earth. They are our true friends. They play an important role in our life and economy. Trees are useful to us in many ways. We get different kinds of nutritious fruits from trees, which make us healthy and protect us from diseases. Everyday a lot of carbon dioxide is produced and the air is polluted. Trees help us by taking carbon dioxide and giving us oxygen. Oxygen is our lifeblood. Without oxygen we cannot live a second. The more we have trees, the more we get oxygen. Trees give shade and shelter to many people. Trees make the land fertile and save the soil from erosion. Trees attract rains. We get timber from trees. We use timbers in making houses, furniture, etc. Trees are used as fuel. Trees are also our source of income. We can earn a lot of money by selling fruits and timber. Trees and forests bear a great impact on climate. If we destroy trees randomly, one day the country will turn into a desert. So, tree plantation is a must.

A School Magazine

A school magazine is an annual or periodical publication of a school. Through it, the students and the teachers can have the opportunities to show their creative power. It plays an important role in one’s school life. A student can express his hidden thought and feeling to other students. There he may be introduced to others with his intellect. The students can exercise literary writings through it. To publish a magazine, a committee is formed in a general meeting of the school. The headmaster is the head of the committee and also he looks after the whole activities. One or two teachers are selected as a editor. There are also some students in this committee on behalf of all students. At first, the editor invites writings from the teachers and the students for the magazine. Any kind of creative writing such as poem, short story, jokes, article on science fiction and so on is allowed here. After proper inspection and editing, the best ones are selected and sent to the press for printing. It is very amazing to see one’s writing in printed paper. A school magazine is a way of knowing oneself. In a word, a school magazine is the mirror of a school.

A Farmer

Bangladesh is an agricultural country. The people who are engaged in agricultural work on their own farms or on other’s are called farmers. The farmers live in the village and work on their agricultural fields to grow paddy, wheat, pulses, onion, pepper, oil seeds, sugar cane and so on. A farmer has to work hard during the sowing and harvesting seasons. He gets up very early in the morning, eats some panta rice and goes to work in the fields. He works from morning to dusk. After so much hardship when he finds his field full of crops, he becomes very happy. But drought, floods, cyclones and other natural calamities destroy the crops. Then his sorrows know no bounds. Generally, a farmer lives in poverty throughout the year. As he is illiterate, he has a big family and finds it difficult to support his family with solvency. Though a farmer cultivates the crops rendering very hard labor, he never gets the value what he deserves. The government should take some steps to improve their condition. Good seeds, fertilizer and the modern agricultural tools should be available and cheap. A good price of their crops must be ensured. Above all, we should behold them with profound respect.

A Rickshaw Puller

The man who pulls rickshaw is called a rickshaw puller. He is a very familiar figure in our society. A rickshaw puller is a very poor man. He leads a very miserable life. He pulls his rickshaw from dawn to dusk. His dress gives a poor show. He wears a torn away shirt and lungi. He lives in a slum. He lives from hand to mouth. Most of the rickshaw puller does not have their own rickshaw. They pull rickshaw of others. After pulling all day long, they have to give a larger part of his income. He is seen working under hot sun, biting cold and rain alike. He never stops his work. Sometimes he bargains with passengers for extra fare. Passengers also cheat with a new rickshaw puller who does not know the new place or scenery can be the opposite. In a rainy day, they demand double fare. As a result, a clash takes place between the passenger and the rickshaw puller. Sometimes, the passengers beat them but they have nothing to do without giving curse. Indeed, the life of a rickshaw puller is full of sorrow and sufferings.  

A Village Doctor

The man who gives medical treatment to the village people is known as a village doctor. The village doctor is a man of great importance in society. He is well known to the villagers. He renders great service to the villagers when they fall ill. He is not well qualified. He does not have a good schooling. He gathers experience by working under a qualified doctor or in a medicine shop. His dispensary offers a poor show. He cannot afford more than one or two showcases, a table and one or two chairs for the patients. The village doctor leads a very hard and busy life. He gets up early in the morning. He begins to attend on the patients present at his dispensary just at 8.00 am and finishes at late hours of night .Though he sometimes worsens the disease of a patient, he is the most trusted person to the villagers. He is the best friend of the villagers because they find him whenever they call him. The villagers share their weal and woe with him. He consoles them and hears the words of hope. He treats his patients with sympathy and a great care.

A Day Laborer

A day laborer is he who does heavy physical labor in various fields. All know him very well. He is to be healthy and strong. He lives with his family in a slum. He gets up early in the morning and goes out in search of work. Then he works hard from dawn to dusk for his employer and gets his wages in the evening. Then he goes to market, buys his daily necessaries and returns to his slum. He is always dependent on his employer. When he gets more work, he earns more and then he and the members of his family eat with their heart’s content. Sometimes he and his family go without food if he cannot manage work. However, he is in great demand in harvesting season. The life of a day laborer is of great importance but all neglect him. He is ill paid. He can hardly support his family. Moreover, he is not hold in due respect. So, we should have soft feeling for him so that he can lead a decent life with dignity.

A Street Hawker

A street hawker deals in various things by hawking from street to street. We do not see him always at the same place. He carries his materials on head and sometimes in hand and sometimes in a small handcart. He generally buys his goods at a cheaper rate and sells them at a good profit. A street hawker is very cunning. He knows his business very well. His customers are children and women. He brings toys, sweets and other things for children and sells them at a fixed price at a good rate. He also brings bangles, ribbons clothing, fruits, utensils, fancy goods and things of domestic uses for women. He speaks in different ways to draw the attention of his customers. A hawker also knows the time of his business. He does not come when housemasters are at home. Rather he comes when housemasters are out of home and when women are free from their household works and duties. He often cheats with women and is cheated by the women. He leads a very hard and busy life. Often he does not get food in time. He hawks under sun and rain alike. Above all, he makes our life easier to reach the daily commodities in our hand.  

A Street Beggar

The man who begs for living from people standing or sitting in the street is a street beggar. A street beggar is a familiar figure to the people of towns and cities. Normally, we can see a street beggar beside the street, in the market place or at the gate of mosques. The dress of a beggar offers a poor show. He puts on dirty and torn cloths. Some of the street beggars are blind, some are lame and some are dumb. A street beggar does not care about the hot sun or bitter cold. As he is physically crippled, he has no other source of income. He tries to draw the attention of passers-by singing sad songs. Some beggars are professionals. They find it easier to beg than doing any work. However, majority of them are homeless and hungry. They do not have any definite place to live in. There are no fixed hours for his work. In the rainy season, he suffers most. He looks forward to the days of religious festivals when people are more charitable than other days. Reasons for begging are many. The unemployment problem and poverty are the two main reasons. Begging is a curse on our society. The government should rehabilitate them.

A Bus Stand

A bus stand is a very important place for all kinds of people. It is a place where buses stop for some time for the passengers to get in and to get down from them. Usually a bus stand remains crowded throughout the day. Passengers are always found waiting there. When a bus stops at such a stand, there is an unusual bustle and hurry among the passengers. Some passengers hurry to get into and some hurry to get down from the bus. As a result, there is a great collision among the passengers. In such a situation, the women, the old and the weak find it difficult to get into or get down. The scene often goes so far that it seems passengers are fighting with one another. Moreover, shouts of coolies, conductors, and bus-helpers make the place noisier. These are the usual sights of a bus stand during the busy hours of the day. Besides, hawkers are often found busy selling their goods like cigarettes, betel-leaves, newspaper, fruits etc. Indeed a bus stand is an important part of our everyday life.

A Railway Station

A railway station is a familiar place in any country that has train communication. It is situated by the side of the railway lines. It has some small buildings, usually of red color. It has some offices,, waiting rooms, tea stalls, book stalls with magazines and newspapers. The signals of red, green and blue colors are seen by the side of the railway lines. They are used for controlling the movement of the trains. There is a high platform just by the rail lines where the passengers gather to get in and get off the train. A railway station can be big or small. Big stations are always crowded. Passengers wait at the station to catch their respective trains. The ticket counters are always overcrowded at almost all station. When a train arrive at the station, the anxious passengers hurry to get in and have seats. Passengers get tired but become happy after getting their seat. Coolies hurry with luggage into or out of the compartments. When trains are late, some passengers are seen taking tea at the tea stalls. Some read newspapers while others move lazily around. Indeed, a railway station is of great importance of our daily life.

A tea stall

A tea stall is a small shop where ready tea with some dry foods is served to the customers. It is found in market places, at railway stations, launch ghats and every turn of roads and highways. It is also found around offices, near hospitals, around mills and factories as well as educational institutions. It is furnished with a few tables, chairs or long benches. It is neither gorgeous nor luxurious. It is rather an ordinary shop. There is a cash counter where the owner or manager sits to handle the cash. Biscuits, cakes, bread, bananas, betel leaf, cigarettes, etc. are sold here. One or more boys are employed here to serve tea to the customers. It opens early in the morning and closes at late night so that people can have some refreshments any time. All kinds of people like passengers, rickshaw pullers, officials, laborers, passers-by, students, political workers are the customers in a tea stall. The customers come to a tea stall for taking tea, gossiping and relaxation. Sometimes people raise a storm over a cup of tea. As it serves people of all age groups and of all occupations, it should be neat and clean.

A Book Fair

A book fair is a place where books of various kinds are brought for sale and display. It is usually held in the winter season in an open place in most of the major cities of the country. It helps to increase the interest in book throughout the country. The bookworms never miss it. The main thing about a book fair is not sale but display of books on different subjects. Various institutions on various occasions, namely, Martyrs Day, Victory Day, Independence Day etc, organize it. The leading publishers of the country set up stalls of their recent publications beside old ones. Various kinds of novels, poetical works and science fictions are available in a book fair. A festive look prevails all around. The renowned artists, poets, intellectuals gather there and take part in the seminars and cultural programs. Bangla Academy organized the most popular book fair of the country in its own premises. A book fair can play an important role in developing the habit of reading books among the people. It is a potential way to spread culture, education and knowledge. It changes our outlook on life and widens our domain of knowledge.

  A Winter Morning

A winter morning is cold and fogy. Nature takes a mysterious look in the morning. Things at a little distance cannot be seen. The grass and leaf remains wet with dewdrops. When the sun rises, the dewdrops seem to be pearls. Old people and children shiver in cold. People wear warm clothes like coats, trousers, pullover, jackets etc. Some people bask in the sun wherever it is available. One special aspect of a winter morning is the way of warming oneself. People gather dry twigs, hay, waste paper and even old rubber-tyres and light fire with them. They sit around it and engage in pleasant gossips. A winter morning brings problem to the poor people though it is pleasant for the rich. The poor cannot afford good warm cloths. They have to tolerate biting cold throughout the season. They hide themselves in the corner of the house and try to save themselves from the biting cold outside. People get up late in the morning. Working people get out when the fog disappears and when the sun is hot. People usually eat homemade cakes with date juice and enjoy the warmth of the early sun sitting outside their houses. A winter morning is pleasant to the rich but unpleasant to the poor. 

A Rainy Day

On a rainy day, it rains all day long. A rainy day is dull and gloomy. The sky is covered with thick clouds. We cannot see the sky. None can go out without an umbrella. Water stands on roads. Roads go under water and become slippery. Those who need to go office or to do business go out with umbrellas over the head, taking shoes in hand and folding clothes up to knee. Sometimes people slip and fall on the midway. The poor suffer much on a rainy day. They cannot go out in quest of work and cannot earn their living. They pass the day through starving. Most of the students do not go to the school. Only a few go to school but they get wet on the way. So classes are not held and it is a day of great joy to them. The cattle keep standing in their sheds and bellow for fodder. On a rainy day it is also enjoyable to have sweet sound of rain water on the roof and to have a look of beautiful scenery of rain. Moreover, nature looks fresh because rainwater washes all kinds of dust away from the nature. On that day, some people arrange special dishes like Vuna Khichuri and Hilsha fish fry. There are many poets in home and abroad who wrote many beautiful poems on a rainy day. Indeed, a rainy day is not unpleasant at all.

Early Rising

A popular proverb goes, “Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy and wise.” The moral of this proverb is that it is good for a man to go to bed and to get up early from bed. The advantages of early rising are many. If a man rise early in the morning, he gets a great opportunity to breathe a fresh air that is very good for health. One can enjoy a fresh nature that is rare in other part of the day. One can fit oneself taking exercise regularly and for doing so one must have to rise early. Those who are early riser find the day longer than those who are late riser. A late riser becomes lazy; on the other hand, an early riser becomes active. He gets charm in his work. He can finish his work in time. It is very essential for students to get up early because a student can study in a calm and quiet environment at dawn. The study in the morning is much more effective than that of any other time. Above all, the habit of early rising helps a man to form a disciplined life. So, we should make this habit for a beautiful life.

A Street Accident

Our country is over populated. Roads are also busy. So, street accidents have become quite common. Most often accidents take place for careless driving. Every day we find the news of many road accidents in newspaper. There are some certain reasons behind it. Unawareness is one of them. Some people do not use foot over bridge. To save five minutes they cross their road taking risk. Avoiding traffic rules is another reason of a street accident. Last week I saw a serious street accident. It took place before my eyes. A young boy was crossing the Mirpur Road. Just at that time, a truck was coming at a great speed. The boy noticed the truck coming but it was too late. He did not get chance to save himself. The truck ran over the boy. The truck did not stop rather it speeded away. I rushed to the spot. To my horror, I saw that, he was no more a human body but a lump of flesh. I was greatly shocked at this tragic scene. I could not forget the scene. We should keep in mind that life is more valuable than time.

Load-shedding

Load-shedding is the suspension of electricity supply on certain lines. There are some certain reasons behind this problem. It occurs when the generation of power is less than the demand. Besides, unplanned distribution and illegal connection of electricity are also responsible for it. It creates various serious problems. The students are affected by it if it occurs at night. They sit idly in the dark closing their books. They suffer terribly owing to load-shedding on the night before their examination. Mills, factories, industries, all academic and socio-economic institution seriously suffer due to it. It seems that everything comes to a standstill position and so life becomes painful. During operation of a patient in a hospital, load-shedding can damage one’s life. In a country like ours, it is very difficult to solve the problem of load-shedding. Yet we can go a long way by establishing new power plants, ensuring planned distribution, reducing system loss and checking illegal connections. If these are ensured, we may expect to get rid of the curse of load-shedding. Government should also take effective steps in this regard.

Eve teasing

Eve teasing is a regular occurrence in the lives of Bangladeshi women. In fact, the entire Indian sub continental region is affected by this problem. Eve teasing is a painful experience for women. Eve teasing has resulted into many unfortunate events in the lives of the female counterparts of our society. Some misguided young people do this heinous activity. No one can explain the true feelings of eve teasing and sexual harassment better than the female who has faced it. Teasing has dangerous consequences for women as it can deprive them of their freedom, nutrition and education. Some of them commit suicide losing the hope of life. Finding no way the parents stop their daughter’s education and married them off at an early age.  Incidents of eve teasing can permanently damage the mind of the victims. It makes them vulnerable about anything in life. Finally, they find it hard to trust people. They no longer want to trust their male friends. The experience always runs into their mind for the rest of their lives. Government should set up law-enforcing team in every area to stop the crime. The local residence also should be aware of it.

Price hike

Price hike is the rising of almost all the essential commodities available in the market. Price hike is a great problem of the day. It is a common fact not only in our country but also in the world. Today the prices of necessary things such as food items, cloths, education materials, medicine and many other necessary things are going up rapidly.  The poor and the middle class people are the most affected by it. Price hike is caused by several factors like low productivity, natural calamities, wars, backwardness of communication, evil motives of dishonest businesspersons, smuggling, black marketing etc. The holy month of Ramadan also contributed a lot to it. During this month, people try to buy and consume some items more than those in the other months. Some dishonest businesspersons made the best use of the situation. They earned the illegal and immoral profits at the cost of our suffering. To get rid of this problem, the government, the rich and the business class people should come forward to ensure the proper distribution of commodities. Laws should be enforced strictly to bring the prices of the essential commodities within the purchasing capacity of the common people.

Drug addiction

Drug addiction is now a global problem. This social cancer has spread all over the world. Frustration is one of the main causes of this addiction. Unemployment problem, lack of family ties, lack of love affection etc give rise to frustration. Again, this addiction gives rise to social crimes. When the addicted cannot afford to buy drugs, they commit many kinds of social crimes like hijacking, seizing, killing, stealing, robbery etc. Drugs bear a terrible effect on human body. They kill them slowly but surely. No physician can stop the changes that take place in the body of a drug addict. Drug addicted people feel drowsy, lose appetite, and suffer from insomnia. Drugs also damage the brain and all internal function of the body. However, this curse should not be allowed to go on. Law must be enforced immediately. Our young generation must be aware of the terrible consequence of drug addiction. Parents must be careful of their treatment to children. Religious and social values must be taught from early childhood. The unity among the family members can play a vital role in this regard.

Dowry System

Dowry means property or money brought by a bride to her husband when they get married. Nowadays the system of giving and taking dowry in marriage has struck deeper roots in Bangladesh. Illiteracy, poverty and greed of the bridegroom are the main causes of this heinous system. In Bangladesh, this is seen to be a major problem. In the Bangladeshi society, this system is treated as a serious curse. Wives are cruelly tortured, and even killed by her husband for dowry. Most of the parents are poor. They cannot keep their word they give before marrying off their daughters. This leads to chaos and melancholy in a family. However, the first thing to be done to stop this malpractice is to grow awareness among all. Movement against dowry system should be started right now. We can get rid of this social vice by taking social work urgently.

Gender Discrimination

Gender discrimination refers to the difference between male and female in respect of enjoying human rights. It is severe in Bangladesh that starts at birth. Female children, girls and women are all victims of discrimination and poor old women are the worst sufferers. It is thought that mentally and physically women are not suitable for many jobs. Most parents want to have male children so that they can supplement their family income and help with the domestic work when the parents will grow older. In the existing socio economic set up, male children are best suited to this purpose. Therefore, parents think the female child a burden to them. In mills, factories and other working places, the female workers get less wages than that of male workers. However, society will be deprived of the service of the half of the population if gender discrimination is allowed to continue. It will hinder progress. So, everybody should treat male and female children equally. Illiteracy, ignorance and superstition should be removed from the society. A general awareness about the evils of gender discrimination should be created among the people. These can be the ways to solve this problem.

Corruption

Corruption means dishonest or illegal behavior especially of people in authority present in a country. There is hardly a man who is not familiar with the very word “Corruption”. Today every government sector of the country is corrupted. Our country has topped the list five times from the viewpoint of corruption. However, there are many reasons behind corruption. Thirst for power, wealth and money is the root cause of corruption. Greed, dishonesty and partiality also contribute to the cause of corruption. The consequence of corruption has a far-reaching negative effect on the socio-economic condition of our country. It has made the country a bottomless basket. It damages the economy and frustrates the various development programs taken by the authority. By practicing corruption, the rich are growing richer and richer and the poor are becoming poorer and poorer. The widespread practice of corruption should not be allowed to go uncontrolled. It should be checked, controlled and prevented at any cost so that the country can get rid of this national trouble. The corrupted people should be rewarded with due punishment. Now it is high time we raised our voice against corruption.

Mobile phone

Mobile phone is one of the wonderful wonders of science. It has added a new dimension to our life and to communication system. A telephone system works without any wire. We can move it easily and quickly from place to place. Through mobile phone, we can send messages to distant places, play games and sports, know about time, solve the work of calculation, and we can be aware of different kinds of news and views. Through mobile phone, now we can use internet and we can keep ourselves up to date. The popularity of mobile phone is increasing day by day. The price of mobile phone is also decreasing in comparison with the past. People are being encouraged to buy a mobile phone set at a cheaper rate. There are some demerits of using a mobile phone. Scientists have recently discovered that excessive use of mobile phone can cause cancer to the ears. Besides, it has become a fashion with the young people. Terrorists are using it to spread terrorism all around the world. In spite of all its demerits, we can say that we cannot deny the necessity of a mobile phone in our practical life.

 

Environment Pollution

          All we see around us are the elements of environment. However, air, water and soil are some of the main elements. But, they often become a threat to our life, particularly when they get polluted. They are polluted in many ways. Smoke is usually responsible for air pollution to create health hazard. It mixes with air and pollutes it. Man makes fire to cook food, to make bricks, to burn refuse and to melt pitch. Fire crated smoke and smoke pollutes air. In addition, water is polluted through waste, insecticides and chemical fertilizers, oil etc. Trees are also a useful element of environment. Environmental pollution gives rise to ecological imbalance and brings about natural disasters. We should adopt measures to save environment. We should plan trees more and more. They cause rain and save the air from pollution, soil from erosion. People should be made aware of the importance of using sanitary latrine so that the pond water and river water remain pure. Government should also take steps to remove the factors that cause environment pollution.

Sound Pollution

Today sound pollution is one of the important issues. It has reached an unbearable level. The unnecessary use of powerful horns is the main source of sound pollution in Cities. Besides, faulty vehicles, construction sites, loudspeaker and thousand of workshops create loud noises round the clock. Some other potential sources of sound pollution are primary school, powerhouses and so on. In the city, millions of people suffer from hearing problem. This sound pollution will damage children’s power of hearing. Sound pollution is so much harmful that it can cause a wide range of malfunctions in the human body including heart attack, high-blood pressure, chronic depression, respiratory disorders etc. We should take necessary measures to control sound pollution. By developing public awareness and careful town-planning, sound pollution can be controlled. Strict laws should be enforced regarding sound pollution. Use of hydraulic horns should be banned strictly.

Water Pollution

Water pollution is one of the most serious environmental problems. It occurs when such substances as human and animal wastes, toxic industrial chemicals, agricultural rests and oil contaminate water. Most of our water bodies— rivers, lakes, seas, oceans, estuaries and underground water sources like tubwells are gradually becoming polluted. The unplanned sanitary latrines those stand on the bank of the water bodies cause serious water pollution. Water often gets polluted owing to the use of insecticides and pesticides in the agricultural fields. These are washed into the rivers with the rainwater. Ocean water gets polluted by oil from damaged tankers. The sewage discharge from factories and houses pollute water. The factories that stand beside the rivers discharge toxic chemical wastage and that make the river water poisonous. Water pollution causes the water borne diseases like jaundice, dysentery, typhoid etc. Polluted water may look clean or dirty, but it invariably contains germs, chemicals or other materials that can cause various trouble, illness or even death.

Air Pollution

Air is the most important element of environment. Man cannot live a single moment without air. But we do not think that it is we who pollute this vital element. Clean air is essential for life. Air is polluted in many ways. Smoke pollutes air. Man makes fires to cook food, burns coals to make bricks, melts pitch for road construction and burns wood. All these things produce heavy smoke and this smoke pollutes air. Railway engines, power houses, mills and factories use coal and oil. Buses, trucks and cars use petrol and diesel oil. Again all these things create smoke and cause air pollution. The most serious air pollution occurs in big industrial areas where there are many mills and cars plying the street every day. Sometimes men in industrial area become so sick by inhaling polluted air that they cannot be cured. So proper measures and steps should be taken to prevent air pollution.

Deforestation

Deforestation means cutting down trees in large numbers. Trees are useful to us in various ways. They provide us with wood, food and other products, they give us shade and they help to prevent drought and floods. But, the last of these services of trees is the most important. To draw quick profit from trees, men cut them down in large numbers. Trees are destroyed mostly for being used as firewood. This destruction disturbs our ecological balance. It leads to soil erosion, deprives us of fruit and timber, and causes economic loss. Therefore, we have to realize the bad effects of deforestation. In fact, if deforestation goes on, our country will turn into a desert. So, we have to educate our common people and to encourage them to abstain from cutting down trees. We should create awareness among the general people about the evils of destroying forests and motivate them to plant more and more trees. Otherwise, the forests of our country will slowly disappear and we will be in great miseries. So, I think every man and woman should plant at least a tree every year.

The Greenhouse Effect

The rise in atmospheric temperature is known as the greenhouse effect. The carbon dioxide is primarily responsible for temperature rise in atmosphere. Due to the excessive increase of carbon dioxide, the heat gets trapped into the earth and the temperature rises up to intolerable stage. The carbon dioxide is given off when coal and oil are burnt. As a result, the ice covering the North and the South is melting and may eventually lead to a rise in sea levels that can flood many areas of the world. Scientists have already given warning that some parts of coastal countries including Bangladesh may go under water due to greenhouse effect. The total area of deserts is increasing every year. Many species of animals and plants are endangered with the threat of extinction. Cutting down of forests indiscriminately is the main culprit for global warming. Tree plantation program should be adapted soon. Steps should be taken to solve the problem controlling the causes and the sources of emitting carbon dioxide. These are measures we can take with a view to preventing the greenhouse effect.

The dangers of smoking

Smoking is a very bad habit. We can call it a silent killer. It kills a man slowly. Smoking is a slow poisoning system in a body. It gives nothing good to us. It is so dangerous that it may cause cancer, heart attack, high blood pressure and others serious diseases. Smoking any kind of product tells upon human health. It is found that one puff of cigarette contains fifteen billion particles of nicotine, methyl alcohol, carbon monoxide, and several other things. These are all really fatal and injurious to our health. Nicotine constricts the size of blood vessels that obstructs the normal flow of blood and oxygen in the body. It causes the heartbeat faster. Tobacco forms a brown sticky mass inside the lungs and it hinders the easy flow of blood. The presence of carbon monoxide in the tobacco drives out the oxygen from the blood and it is dangerous. Besides, smoking can cause frustration in the mind. After all, the dangers of smoking are quite unlimited and all should avoid it to live a happy and peaceful life.

Earth Quack

Earthquake is a sudden and violent shaking of the ground. Sometimes it causes great destruction. It causes because of movements within the earth's layer or volcanic action.  Earthquakes bring various damages to the areas they act upon. The effects of earthquakes usually lead to the destruction of structures such as buildings, bridges, and barriers and commonly to the floods. Besides producing floods and destroying buildings, earthquakes that take place under the ocean can sometimes cause tsunamis, or tidal waves. Tsunamis are high and long walls of water that travel at a very rapid rate. They are notorious for destroying entire populations and cities near coastlines. It takes a heavy toll of life. It breaks down the financial body of the entire country. The matter of anxiety is that there is no way of getting rid of this natural disaster. Only we can reduce loses by being conscious. We have to follow the earth quack resistant building code whenever we build any construction in the big cities. Again, we need to know what we should in the event of earth quack.   

A Moonlit Night

The night in which the moon shines brightly in the cloudless clear shy is generally known as a moonlit night. A moonlit night has a splendid and charming look. It is very attractive. The moon seems to be a silver disc and few sparkling stars twinkle around it. The ponds, canals, rivers, trees, creepers and gardens glitter with silver shine. The moon bathes the whole world with her divine light. It soothes our eyes and refreshes our minds. Men come out of the house, move around, interact with joyful mood, and gossip in the yards and fields. Young boys play, little girls and boys make merriment and amuse themselves. Animals also get delighted by the moonlit night and roam about blithely. People of all ages and occupations enjoy a moonlit night. It is a great pleasure and source of recreation for the people of almost all ages, tastes and temperaments.

Our National Flag

National flag is the symbol of independence of a nation. Every nation of the world has a national flag of its own. Bangladesh has also a national flag. The proportion of its length and width is 10:6. Our national flag is a piece of rectangular green cloth with a red circle in the middle of it. The green color represents the ever-green environment of the country. The red circle symbolizes the rising sun with new hopes and aspiration of a new nation. Our national flag is hoisted at govt. offices, educational institutes, etc. Especially on the occasion of national days like 16th December, 26^th March, we show our profound respect to it. But on our national mourning day, 21st February, our national flag is kept half-mast. Our feeling about the flag is very respectful. When we see our national flag, our heart is fulfilled with joy and respect. We bow down our head towards it. Our national flag always inspire us to dedicate our lives for the greater interest of the country. So we are proud of it.

The 21st February

The 21st February was observed as our (Bangladeshi) national Mother Language Day. Considering the supreme sacrifice made by the martyrs, the UNESCO declared the day as an International Mother Language Day. This day is now celebrated as an International Mother Language Day throughout the world. On this very day in 1952, many heroic sons of our country like Salam, Rafique, Jabbar, Barkat laid down their lives to establish ‘Bangla’ as the official language of the country. It is also called Language Martyr Day or Shaheed Day. The day begins with mourning song. On this day, people wake up early in the morning. They put on a black badge to mark the day as a day of mourning for them. They walk to the Shaheed Minar barefooted with flowers and wreaths in hands. They offer flowers and wreaths on the foot of the Shaheed Minar to show love and respect to the martyred heroes. They remain standing silently for some time. Many meeting and seminars are held. People also pray for the salvation of the souls of the martyrs throughout the country in different religious institutions. Indeed, the day teaches us how to respect our mother tongue.

Victory Day

The 16th December is the ‘Victory Day’ of Bangladesh because Bangladesh has become independent on this day. We celebrate this day every year with great pleasure and joy. People go to the National Memorial at Savar to show respect to our martyred freedom fighters. On this day I feel great sympathy and sorrow for the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country in the war. Their strength and courage inspires me. The Pakistani forces killed thousands of innocent people, tortured innumerable women, killed many intellectuals of the country. After nine months of fighting we have achieved golden sun of independence from the barbarous Pakistanis. The Victory Day symbolizes the triumph of justice over tyranny. The sacrifice made by the martyrs will act as a permanent source of inspiration for me to work for the country. The symbolic meaning of the day is that we have won victory over the enemy, the heinous pakistani rulers. We observe this day with proper dignity and feelings for the all martyrs.

Pahela Baishakh

Pahela baishakh is the first day of Bangla Year. It is the day of Subho Nabobarsho. The celebration of this day is an central part of our culture and tradition. So, the day is celebrated with traditional festivity across the country. People in villages celebrate this day according to their age-long customs. Special meals are arranged at home and Baishakhi Melas are held at different places. It is a day of great pleasure to the village people and children. City dwellers also celebrate this day with delight. Girls and women wear yellow sarees and boys wear pajama-panjabi. Some people eat watered-rice with onion, green chili and hilsha-fish. Shop-keepers both in villages and towns open Halkhata (current account books) and distribute sweets among their customers and clients. In Dhaka, people attend at Ramna Batamul in the morning. Different cultural organizations offer different programs. The celebration of Pahela Baishakh is a part of Bangali culture. So, it bears a great significance for us. The day thus goes by in festive programs and functions.

Digital Bangladesh

Bangladesh is working with the target of achieving digital Bangladesh. A digital society ensures an ICT (Information and Communication Technology) based society where information will be available on-line. In other word, making Bangladesh a digital one, we have to establish technology based e-governance, e-commerce, e-production, e-agriculture, e-health etc, in the society. Building strong ICT infrastructure is the pre-requisite for making Bangladesh a digital one. For this, we need to focus on the following relevant issues that hinder our development in this context. It may be noted that for proper ICT development an uninterrupted power supply is necessary. For the ICT development, Internet users of the country must be increased. In this case, our place is the worst one among the South Asian countries. From different sources, it has been learnt that, English literacy rate in Bangladesh is less than one percent. Though the above accounts seem to be frustrating one, these can be easily overcome within a reasonable span of time if we can establish good governance in the country. In many cases, we need to reformulate our national policy (e.g. education policy, ICT policy) in accordance with the Millennium Development Goals. If the leaders of our country objectively guide this generation, they can do wonder for the nation.

Significance of The Shaheed Minar

The Central Shaheed Minar is a national monument to commemorate them who were martyred in the Language Movement on 21 February 1952 in Dhaka. It is situated in front of Dhaka Medical College in the campus of the University of Dhaka. Hamidur Rahman, the first art student of Bangladesh, designed the shaheed minar. He took the language movement of the year of 1952 as the central concept of this monument. There is a glorious history of the Bangla language behind it. It tells about those valiant sons who laid down their lives for their mother tongue without any hesitation.  It is a new expression to convey the aspiration of the Bengali nation. It is the manifestation of Bengali solidarity and unity for their national identity that is expressed with horizontal and vertical forms. The vertical lines of this design symbolize the nation’s inner strength and the four columns on both sides of the central structure reflect the balance and harmony of a united stand. The monument is constructed in such a way that it’s shadow from dawn to dusk give a message of unending process of revolt to achieve the prestige of our mother tongue. The central shaheed minar is a reflection of our freedom, strength and unity.

International Language

Language is the media of expressing our thoughts and feelings. Every nation has its own national mother language but all need a common language through which the people all over the country can communicate with one another without any problem. There are a number of languages in the whole world. Among them English has achieved the prestige of being the common language. Therefore, English is called the International language. Besides, no other language than English serves the purpose of a common language through which people can communicate with one another for trade and commerce, science and education, art and literature. We should learn English for a great variety of purposes. We need English to get good job, to go abroad, to practice higher studies on science and technology and medicine. If we do not learn this language, we will fall behind form the developed countries. Moreover, we will be deprived of acquiring higher education, English is an international language. Therefore, I would like to say that we should learn English for ourselves.

The Internet

Internet is one of the greatest inventions of the last century. It is a fast and easy way to get a lot of valuable information. Internet has both advantages and disadvantages. First of all, Internet brings us many benefits. People can have access to the latest news of home and abroad. It is a great means of communication. A few years ago it was difficult to imagine that it would be possible to communicate with people from all around the world. But now internet has made it possible. People can communicate with other countries in a second. It is also very helpful for the students. They can contact with the foreign college or university and get admitted very easily. Internet makes our world smaller and friendly. People can also enjoy music, movie, gaming, chatting with friends, sharing views just by pressing few keys. There are disadvantages too. Many crimes occur using internet. There are some hackers who steal the personal and confidential information of a country or an important person. It is called cyber crime. Nevertheless, Internet gives us more advantages and opportunities than disadvantages and problems. 

Social Value

Social value refers to norms or forms of behavior that are widely acceptable and admirable in the society. It refers also to the life style that people think that they should adopt. In the past, honesty, sincerity, truthfulness, piety, fellow-feeling etc. were considered social values. People tried to keep themselves away from all sorts of malpractices and misdeeds. Honesty is the best policy – This was the motto of people in general. But, it is a pity that those social values are interpreted now the other way round. Now, the criminals are honored as heroes of the society. The causes of the present social values are worldly attitude of people in general. With a few exceptions, people now run after name, fame and fortune without thinking about right or wrong, good or evil, moral or immoral. The effects of social values in the present age are shocking. The noble qualities are now in exile. Honest people are now pushed to the wall. The wrong doers are now held in high respect because of their post, power and position. Social values that were honored by people in the past should be preserved by way of raising awareness in people by forming the habit of doing good deeds, maintaining moral ethics, abominating vices and corrupt practices.

Good Health

Good health is sound health. The body that is free from all sorts of diseases is considered to be healthy. One can keep good health by way of observing the rules of health, eating a balanced diet and living a disciplined life. Eating fresh food, drinking clean water and taking pure air are the basic needs for keeping healthy. But unfortunately, many people of our country (Bangladesh) do not get the food they need for good health. While the rich and educated people of our country are conscious of the rules of health, the majority of the common people are ignorant of them. They seem to have no sense of hygiene and sanitation. As a result, they suffer terribly because of their ill health. Moreover, life has become complicated in this age of technology. In addition, the complexities of life have an adverse impact on our health. Frozen and artificial rather than fresh and natural food make us fall victim to serious diseases causing great damage to our health and happiness. I thoroughly believe in the fact that simple and carefree life is helpful to good health.

Television Its Uses and Abuses

Today TV is the most important mode of entertainment to all classes and ages of people. In the towns and cities, there is hardly any house where there is not a TV set. Even in the villages, we see that wealthy persons have a TV set. But, the young generation is badly addicted to it. Though all the programs on the TV are not harmful, we have to think what it is giving and taking away from our young generation. Young people most often watch the exciting films on violence and crime. They also see the obscene films. All these things leave a damaging effect on their soft mind. If once bad things lay root deeply in their soft mind, it will stay in their mind forever. They will try to commit crimes and violence in an aristocratic way and it needs no telling that young persons are going astray day by day. They are becoming addicted to drug. They don’t like any kind of educative program. So, the guardian should be more cautious about running TV. They should allow their boys and girls to see only those programs from which they can derive much benefit and make the right use to build up their career. Again, we should not forget the proverb that forbidden things always taste sweet.

Newspaper

Newspaper is a moving mirror of the world we live in. during the 17^th century newspaper was first published in China. Through reading a newspaper, one can acquire all the important news at a glance. A newspaper can help a student in many ways. It can provide the extra knowledge about the world people and their customs and cultures. By reading newspaper, a student can easily acquire general knowledge that may help to build up his/her future life. A newspaper sharpens intellect and makes one curious to know about the world outside. If a student reads newspapers regularly, he will certainly enrich his/her vocabulary and improve his/her style of writing. A student can utilize this knowledge in his or her practical life. A newspaper plays a vital role in the life of a man. Sometimes, a newspaper gives biased and false news and comments and thus misleads the readers. One should not be blindly influenced by these comments. It is important for a reader not to rely entirely on what he reads in newspapers. Every reader should judge for himself the value of what a newspaper tells him.

Globalization

Globalization means free movement of goods, service, people and information across the national borders. The idea of Globalization came into practice only in the last decade though the idea was age old. The world has come closer with the development of hi-tech communication media and rapid transport facilities. We can learn instantly what is happening in the remotest corner of the world. We are also able to go to any country in the shortest possible time. This is how countries of the world are like families in a village. However, because of Globalization, capitalist countries are enjoying more opportunities by exploiting the poor countries. The poorer and developing countries should ensure good governance, efficient management and investment in infrastructure for Globalization to work in favor of them. Otherwise, they will be exploited by the capitalist countries in the process. If Globalization is imposed upon a properly educated and properly trained labor force in an appropriate system it will lead to development and progress. If the developed and developing nations work together on terms of solidarity, equity and justice, the process of Globalization will make our world a better place to live in.

Illiteracy

The state of being unable to read and write is known as illiteracy. It is a curse in any society as illiterate people cannot differentiate between right and wrong. By following the right way people can go ahead and lead a country along the path of development. As education makes a man enlightened, illiterate people are deprived of the light of education. They do not know the scientific method of agriculture. They are not aware of the devices and benefits of family planning and population control. They are ignorant about the rules of health and hygiene. Thus, illiteracy stands in the way of our development. It is the responsibility of the literate people to make the illiterate people literate and remove the darkness of ignorance from the country. The concerned efforts of the literate and illiterate people can make a country developed. To remove illiteracy, government must raise budget allocation in this field. Night schools should be established at every village. Radio, television and newspapers can take some programs to remove illiteracy. Radio and television must devote some time to educate the illiterate people. The present literacy rate of Bangladesh is about 60%. It is undoubtedly a poor rate.

Pastime/Leisure

Leisure is the sweetest moments when a man has no work to do, when he is his own master and can arrange his work at his own will. Village people spend tiers leisure by flying kites, fishing, swimming and gossiping and by engaging themselves in productive work such as gardening, farming etc. City people spend their leisure by playing, visiting different historical places, enjoying shows and exhibitions, going out for a picnic, reading books, watching TV and using computers. The common sports are football, cricket, chess etc. the common pastimes are gossiping, reading newspapers and watching TV programmes. In late winter people enjoy various kinds of games like badminton, volley-ball, daria bandha and hadu-du. Sometimes winter-fair is observed in the villages. I think traveling is an expensive kind of pastime although It increases one’s knowledge and gives one some enjoyment by refreshing one’s mind through watching many different places.

The Garment Worker

In recent years, Garments sector has emerged as the biggest earner of foreign currency. The sector contributes significantly to the GDP. It provides employment to around 4.2 million Bangladeshis. It includes both male and female worker. Garment sector is the largest employer of women in Bangladesh. About 85% of the total garment worker is female. It has provided employment opportunities to women from the rural areas. This has given women the chance to be financially independent and have a voice in the family because now they contribute financially. However, the women workers are facing many problems. Most women come from low-income families. Women are paid far less than men mainly due to their lack of education. Women are unwilling to protest because factory owners threaten to fire them. In recent times, garment workers have protested against their low wages. The first protest broke out in 2006, and since then, there have been periodic protests by the workers. These have forced the government to increase minimum wages of workers.

Usefulness of Sports

Sports serve as an excellent physical exercise. Those who play sports have a more positive body image than those who do not. Playing sports often involves physical activities like running, jumping and stretching and a constructive expenditure of energy. Playing sports since an early age strengthens the bones and muscles. It provides the body with a complete exercise. Sports build a competitive spirit in children and teach them to be participative. It does not matter whether the participation concludes in a victory or a defeat. Playing sports teaches a person to accept both successes and failures in a positive spirit. It develops leadership qualities and encourages a team spirit in them. Playing sports reduces blood sugar level and reduces the risk of blood cholesterol. Playing sports decreases the chances of hypertension Playing sports is very beneficial for the development of social skills in a person. Sports teach a person to interact with people, act as a team. Sports build confidence in children and give them a sense of achievement. Sports thus play a vital role in one's social well-being. Playing sports acts as a beautiful blend of recreation and physical activity. It is a combination of both enjoyment and exercise.

Usefulness of E-mail

E-mail stands for electronic mail. Email is an effective means of communication for business and personal use via electronic device such as computer. To send an email you must have a computer with internet connection. Emails can be sent and received from any computer, anywhere in the world, that has an Internet connection. Messages can be sent anywhere around the world in an instant through email. Unlike face-to-face conversation and phone calls, people can communicate via email without both paying attention at the same time. Transmission usually costs nothing, or at the most, very little. It's easy to use after initial setup. Sending to a group can be done in one-step. Email allows one to send pictures, power points or other files in a few seconds. It has lessened the consumption of paper for the official correspondences. Email is widely accepted by the business community as the first broad electronic communication medium and is the first ‘e-revolution’ in business communication. Email ensures the security of the confidential information as it allows only the man who knows the password of the email address. Obviously, e-mail has become an extremely popular communication tool in this modern era.

Female Education

“What is beautiful and useful in the world are equally done by men women” -said our national poet. Therefore, female education is very essential in the present socio-economic condition of Bangladesh. In Islam, education is compulsory for both men and women without any discrimination. So, everybody has the equal right to obtain the light of education. But, it is a matter of great regret that some people misinterpret the religion and say that female education is useless and irreligious. However, the importance of female education is beyond description. The future of the nation depends on an educated mother completely. An educated woman is a good mother, a good wife and a good nation- builder. Female education should be made compulsory. by taking necessary steps. For example, early marriage has to be stopped. Social barriers must be removed so that the girls can go to the school, college or university without any obstacle. Female education should be made free up to Master Degree. It is a matter of great joy that our govt. has made female education free up to class XII. This is a milestone for the female education. So, we all should come forward to ensure the female education.

Nursing

Nursing refers to taking care of sick and injured people. A nurse gives people medicine, treats wounds and gives emotional support to patients and their families. Nurses ask patients about their symptoms and keep detailed records. They watch for signs that people are sick. Then, nurses help doctors examine and treat patients. Nursing also involves teaching people how to take care of themselves and their families. Some nurses instruct people to maintain a balanced diet and to take exercise. They also advise how to follow doctors' instructions. Some nurses run clinics and vaccination centers.  For doing this profession perfectly, a nurse need to practice or take institutional knowledge. There are many educational institutions where a nurse can have a diploma or bachelor's degree in nursing and many hours of clinical experience. Thus, Nurses are on the front lines of the health care delivery team. They independently assess and monitor patients. Indeed, nursing is treated as a noble profession.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day is an important day all over the world. Not all countries celebrate it on the same day, but the most popular day is the second Sunday in May. It is a day to honor our mothers and make them feel extra special. The modern holiday of Mother's Day was first celebrated in 1908. Mothers Day came into being due to the efforts made by Ms Julia Ward Howe and Ms Anna Jarvis. They were successful on May 8 1914. Since then people across the world have been celebrating Mothers Day with joy and devotion. In observance of the day discussion programs are organized by government and non-governmental organizations. Reception programs and cultural programs are organized to mark the day in the capital city. Television channels air special programs, and newspapers publish special features and columns to mark the day. Greeting cards, flowers and gifts featuring mothers are in high demand at the shops and markets. Young children get especially excited about Mother’s Day and put a lot of effort into making cards and presents for their mothers.

Climate Change

Climate change is caused by the increase in greenhouse gases in our environment. The increase in the greenhouse gases creates a rise in global temperatures. The rise in global temperatures will melt the ice at the poles causing a rise in sea level that will endanger coastal areas and small islands.  In addition, our global weather pattern will change. It may cause extreme rainfall or extreme drought in some places. The global climate is changing as the direct result of greenhouse gas producing from human activities. Carbon dioxide is the most significant greenhouse gas released by human activities and is emitted mostly from the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas. Other greenhouse gases include methane and nitrous oxide also contributes in climate change. As a result, many catastrophic changes will be certain. Therefore, proper awareness is needed to reduce the emission of the carbon dioxide and save the planet.

Your School Library

A library is a place where books are kept for reading. A school library is a library set up in the school compound mainly for the benefit of the students. A school library is part and parcel of a school. So we have one in our school. It is housed on the first floor in a big room of the school building. Ours is a very well furnished library. It has a very rich collection of books. The library has more than one thousand books. Books of almost all branches of knowledge are available in the library. The books are kept in 20 almirahs. The books are also on shelves. The books are arranged in different shelves according to subjects. In the library there is also a librarian. He helps the students find the book. The library has two rooms. In one room there is sitting arranged. They sit and get absorbed in books. A pin-drop silence exists there at that time. Students can borrow books from the library for a certain period. Students are greatly benefited by the library. They can enrich their knowledge by reading books in the library. Whenever I get chance, I go there and have a glance at the books of varied interests.

My Favorite Bangladeshi Food

There are many kinds of Bangladeshi foods. But all are not favorite to me. As I am Bangladeshi, rice and fish are my favorite food. I also like dal and vegetables. Seasonal homemade foods, as vapa pitha in the month of poush is my favorite food. Besides, pithas like patisapta, bhapa, chitai are most favorite. Among seasonal fruits, I like pineapple, mango, jackfruit, blackberries etc. These fruits are very nourishing and beneficial for health. Our rivers abound with fish. I like to eat it early in the morning. However, most of the Bangladeshi foods are very delicious and nutritious. Actually the foods we take in our country is rarely found elsewhere of the world. Actually, I am proud of having these Bangladeshi foods.

Global Warming

Global warming is the increase of world's average temperature, mainly in the sector of atmosphere, seas and the land on Earth. Global warming is more danger than any other disasters. It can destroy our world in the future. Global warming is not just happen in certain parts of the Earth, but it happens to all over the world. For example, the warming of the global vapors the water up in the air, and then there will be more rains. Moreover, the warming makes the ice melts. When the ice melts, the ocean will rise. If the ocean rises higher, then the lands will be flooded with water. In fact, since 1990, yearly emissions of carbon dioxide have gone up by about 6 billion metric tons worldwide, that's more than a 20% increase. Almost all of that increase is due to human activities. To solve the problem of global warming, we should stop cutting trees, use less of electricity, and drive less. We get oxygen from trees, so if we cut down trees then we will lose oxygen that let us live on earth.
